I meet most of the couples who’s weddings I photograph at wedding fayres or I get an email looking for a price, but I had been recommended to Helen and Graham by Paul at Platinum Cars, not that unusual you may think but when it turns out that Helen is a good friend of Paul’s it makes you think you are not just another photographer on a list.

I turned up at Lichfield Registry Office and as usual the weddings were running late, so when Helen turned up in an Austin Princess from PlatinumCars she had to have a quick trip round til everyone had gone in. Once everyone was in Helen turned up wearing a dress from Phase 8 and with flowers from FineFlowers in Rugeley.

I think that this was the first time in all the years that I have seen the ceremony room at Lichfield Registry Office full, and as Helen came in there was definitely a few of the guests that had a tear in their eye including Graham.

Ceremony over and it was out into Beacon Park for a few quick family photos. Now at this point on most weddings there is a guest or two that either have no interest in the photos or are quite happy to try and play me up. The playing me up is fine it adds to the day, but today no one not even Paul from Platinum who was there as a guest. So some quick family photos as it was definitely getting a bit cold for everyone to be standing around then off to St John’s House.

I have never done a wedding St John’s House and if you didn’t know it was there you would definitely miss is as you drive through Lichfield. This in a way adds to its charm of a hidden gem. It’s a venue that is well worth adding to the list of potential venues for any wedding. So with everyone packed into the bar and lounge, and enjoying a few canapés the Yorkshire pud was nice and the food cooking in the kitchen smelling nice (definitely Chinese in flavour) it was time for me to go and leave the new Mr & Mrs Martin with their guests.
